This is long but a MUST READ.
I'm starting off this update with an Urgent Plea for donations to solar power a water well in the Rural bush CommUnity of BH 36 Zimbabwe, Africa. There are
8 disabled individuals that live in this rural area. One is a man named Decent. Born with polio, Decent has been pulling himself through the sands of Zimbabwe all his life. I've known Decent for close to 20 years. In All those years he has never begged or asked for any money or assistance that is, until Sunday June 23rd 2024.
He was at the iroCK Lodge by himself, sitting in his wheelchair when I saw him on Sunday. He had been waiting for Leigh and I to show up.
It has always amazed me how Decent can manage to move from the sandy rural area into Victoria Falls and other places around Zimbabwe.
On this day, Sunday June 23rd 2024 I saw Decent and it is always good to see him as he always has a JOY about him that brightens
anyone's day; but today, his faces showed a different look. He did the best he could to smile but anyone would know something was wrong.
His eyes told the story that he had been crying. It was getting late on this Sunday as Leigh and I had watched our Church Service on line. It was 5:30pm now and I was seriously concerned about Decent as he was a long way from his homestead.
My greeting to Decent was different this time, you know what I'm saying. The atmosphere in your heart ❤ was not the same.
My greeting was short, "hey my friend, it's good to see you, but I can see you're troubled. Tell me what's up"?
He tells me that he and his family are really struggling to eat. He has no money to buy food for his family, his wife, she is disabled as well, she has a tough time walking. They have 3 kids. Two stay at home because they are to young for school. The oldest girl is in the 3rd grade, the school fees that are due are months behind and she may be asked to leave (this is really sad and heart breaking news)
We have always supported Decent whenever we see him and he is part of the Rural food distribution program that we provide but today was a real cry out for help.
The issues that are facing Decent and his family and the other disabled people in his Village get worse.
A new manual water well (borehole) pump and handle were installed to replace the broken one. This is the only water source in
the CommUnity of 700 and the BIGGEST problem now is Decent nor any of the other people with disabilities can reach the handle to
pump water. Decent must rely on someone from the village to bring him water.
My Urgent plea is this. Together, lets raise the money for - a Solar powered pump, Inverter, solar panels, 2 Jojo tanks and water
taps are going to cost $7500. Most importantly a water line and tap will be run from the borehole directly to Decent's homestead.
Friends, this is LIFE CHANGING.
Please - EVERYONE - TELL A FRIEND - If you feel lead to make a Donation please do so.
This is a SERIOUS situation for the people in Zimbabwe, especially for the people with disabilities.
